Our strip cut shredders cut narrow little strips with rotating knives. These elongated strips are as long as the original sheets. The strip cut models are usually more efficient than their cross cut counterparts as they slice sheets with greater speed. The cross cut (also called confetti cut) model is actually safer, though, as it cuts the sheet into many shapes such as diamond-like, rectangular, and in parallelograms. This is done with help of two contra-rotating drums. The cross cut model also compacts well reducing the number of times you have to rush towards the shred bag in order to empty it out.

The DestroyIt and Olympia strip cut model under discussion has a shredding capacity of 12 to 15 sheets at 60 feet per minute. With a throat or feed opening which is as wide as 16 inches, it runs at a maximum capacity of 10 horse power.

Like its strip cut counterpart, the cross cut model too runs at 10 horse power and has a feed opening 16 inches wide. On the other hand however, it is capable of cutting up between 65 and 82 sheets at 53 feet by the minute. Like the strip cut model, this too has similar dimensions but is lighter by 42 pounds.

Then there is the strip cut model (1/2” or 3/8”) which can slice sheets up to anything between 120 and 140 at a speed of 60 feet per minute. With a feed opening of 16 inches in width, it runs at a maximum horse power of 10 HP and has a motor output of four kilowatts. This model weighs 952 lbs as opposed to its cross cut counterpart (1/4” x 2”) which has a shipping weight of 910 lbs. The cross cut model can shred up to 65 to 82 sheets. And it can do this at a capacity of 53 sheets per minute. Not too quick, perhaps, but safe certainly.
